Overview
In Korean, we use special grammar endings
to express wants, ongoing actions, and experience. These endings let us
express emotions and intentions clearly.
The most common forms are:
- -κ³ μΆλ€ → want to do
- -κ³ μλ€ → be doing (present
progressive)
- -μ/μ΄ λ³΄λ€ →
try to do / have tried

μΆλ€: Expressing Want or Desire
✅ Meaning
Used to show that the speaker wants
to do something.
It’s like “I want to ~” in English.
✅ Structure
Verb stem + -κ³ μΆλ€
✅ Examples

μΆμ΄μ. = I want to go on a
trip.
- νΌμλ₯Ό λ¨Ήκ³
μΆμ΄μ. = I want to eat pizza.
- λμμ΄ μκ³
μΆμ΄ ν΄μ. = My younger sibling wants to sleep.
⚠ Note: Use -κ³
μΆμ΄ νλ€ for third person.

μλ€: Expressing Ongoing Actions
✅ Meaning
Used to express that something is happening
right now
It’s like “I am ~ing” in English.
✅ Structure
Verb stem + -κ³ μλ€
✅ Examples

μμ΄μ. = I am studying now.
- μμ
μ λ£κ³
μμ΄μ. = I’m listening to music.
- μ΄λνκ³
μμμ΄μ. = I was exercising.
Also used for changing states:
- κ½μ΄ νΌκ³
μμ΄μ. = The flower is blooming.

Used to say you tried something or
are encouraging someone to try
Equivalent to “try doing something” or “have you ever ~”
