Learn Hangul 8: Reading Simple Words — Luca and Hani's First Sentences

Intro

Luca and Hani arrive at a sunny meadow with words floating in the air like bubbles.

Omi: “Now that you know letters and sounds, let’s read simple words and sentences!”

Luca: “Our first reading challenge!”

Hani: “Let’s pop those word bubbles!”


8.1 Simple Nouns

Examples:

  • [jip] — house
  • [mool] — water
  • [son] — hand
  • [cha] — car
  • [bal] — foot
  • [noon] — eyes
  • [gwee] – ears
  • [san] — mountain
  • [bul] — fire


 


8.2 Simple Verbs

Examples:

  • 해요 [he-yo] — do
  • 가요 [ga-yo] — go
  • 와요 [wa-yo] — come
  • 먹어요 [muh-guh-yo] — eat
  • 봐요 [bwa-yo] — look/see
  • 마셔요 [ma-syeo-yo] — drink
  • 잡아요 [ja-ba-yo] — catch
  • 받아요 [ba-da-yo] — receive
  • 밀어요 [mil-u-yo] — push
  • 당겨요 [dang-gyeo-yo] — pull





8.3 Simple Sentences

Omi shows sentences on clouds:

  • 집에 가요. [jib-eh ga-yo] — go home.
  • 물 마셔요. [mool mah-shyuh-yo] — drink water.
  • 손 씻어요. [son ssih-suh-yo] — wash my hands.
  • 차 와요. [cha wa-yo] — car comes.
