Intro

Luca and Hani visit the zoo with Omi.

Omi: “Let’s learn words for animals!”

Luca: “Look at the elephants!”

Hani: “The monkeys are so funny!”


14.1 Animal Nouns

Examples:

  • 동물 [dong-mool] — animal
  • 코끼리 [koh-kkee-ree] — elephant
  • 원숭이 [wuhn-soong-ee] — monkey
  • 사자 [sah-jah] — lion
  • 호랑이 [hoh-rahng-ee] — tiger
  • [sae] — bird
  • 물고기 [mool-goh-gee] — fish



14.2 Animal Verbs

Examples:

  • 걷다 [gut-dah] — walk
  • 날다 [nal-dah] — fly
  • 헤엄치다 [heh-um-chee-dah] — swim



14.3 Practice Sentences

Omi points to animals:

  • 코끼리가 걸어요. [koh-kkee-ree-gah guh-ruh-yo] — The elephant walks.
  • 새가 날아요. [sae-gah nal-ah-yo] — The bird flies.
  • 물고기가 헤엄쳐요. [mool-goh-gee-gah heh-um-chuh-yo] — The fish swims.
  • 원숭이가 장난쳐요. [wuhn-soong-ee-gah jang-nan-chuh-yo] — The monkey plays.

Luca and Hani laugh at the playful monkeys and wave to the birds.
